Exotic Chained Star

Exotic Chained Star is one of a series of quilts based on the 54-40 or Fight Block.  I have designed several quilts using the 54-40 Block in which it became a secondary design feature; I wanted to do a quilt in which the block became the star.  I designed the secondary block to be unevenly divided in order to compliment the main block, and used a different type of star as well.  The background is black with secondary colors of orange, green, and purple.  As I was sewing it seemed to need something else, so I added in the blue and am pleased with the interplay of colors.
